Ready To Go by Republica Cover Version

Ready To Go was released in the UK on 15th April 1996. Then again in 1997, 2007 and 2020. There are currently 5 different versions of the song.

Ready To Go was written by:

  • Saffron
  • Tim Dorney
  • Andy Todd
  • Johnny Male

Trivia about the band.

Saffron’s real name is Samantha Marie Sprackling. Prior to being a musician she appeared in the music video of ‘The One And Only’ by Chesney Hawkes (Released 1991) and also as the singer/dancer in British Dance group “N-Joi’s” single ‘Mindflux’. Although it’s doubtful she provided the actual vocals for that dance track. Saffron sings about a “Craic” in the song, but what is a craic exactly? It is an Irish terms pronounced “Crack” that means to enjoy yourself / to have a good time.

Lyrics to Ready To Go by Republica

Verse
You’re weird, in tears, too near and too far away.
He said, saw red, went home stayed in bed all day.

Bridge
Your t-shirt, dish dirt, always love the one you hurt.

Chorus
It’s a craic, I’m back yeah I’m standing on the rooftops shouting out.
Baby I’m ready to go, I’m back and ready to go.
From the rooftops shout it out, shout it out.

Verse
You sleep, too deep, one week is another world.
Big mouth, drop out, you get what you deserve.

Bridge
You’re strange, insane, one thing you can never change.

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba Cover Version

The song “Tubthumping” was released in August 1997 from Chumbawamba’s eight studio album album “Tubthumper”. Reaching number two in the UK charts it is in the key of D Major.
Thought of as a throw away song to some this is a massive favourite of all our clients as you will see in the above video with everyone pitching in to chant and sing-along in the chorus. Some folks even make up their own dance routines too at our live performances.

For most people this is probably the only song they’d know by Chumbawamba, yet the follow up single “Amnesia” faired well in the UK charts too hitting the top ten. Do you remember it though? No, us neither 🙂 ….Get it, remember amnesia? Ha-ha…..

Here’s another video of us performing this massive 90’s song

Tubthumping Lyrics

We’ll be singing, when we’re winning, we’ll be singing

I get knocked down, but I get up again,
You ain’t never gonna keep me down

Pissing the night away

He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink.
Sings the songs that remind him of the good times.
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times.

Oh, Danny Boy, Danny Boy, Danny Boy

I get knocked down, but I get up again,
You ain’t never gonna keep me down

Pissing the night away

He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink.
Sings the songs that remind him of the good times.
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times.

Don’t cry for me, next door neighbour

I get knocked down, but I get up again,
You ain’t never gonna keep me down

There She Goes by The Las Cover

Here you can watch our There She Goes by The Las Cover by Britpop Reunion a nineties cover band. Did you know that The La’s band featured over 26 members over the years. Lee Mavers was the main songwriter and John Power was the bass player. There is a big connection between The La’s and Britpop. After The La’s split up, John Power formed 90’s band ‘Cast’ taking on lead vocals and rhythm guitar (John Power plays a Fender Telecaster).

The band Cast then went on to support Oasis on numerous occasions and were quoted as being “The Who of the 90’s” by Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher (Writer of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger‘). The drummer from The La’s ‘Chris Sharrock’ went on to work with Oasis, Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Now it’s time to contact Britpop Musician Andy Starkey to hire a professional Britp pop tribute band for any live event of any size.  That’s quite the Britpop connection eh?

A cover of the classic The La’s song There She goes at a wedding.

Lyrics to The La’s There She Goes

There she goes, There she goes again
Racing through my brain
And I just can’t contain
This feeling that remains

There she goes, There she goes again
Pulsing through my veins
And I just can’t contain
This feeling that remains

She calls my name, she pulls my train
And no one else can feel my pain

And I just can’t contain
This feeling that remains

There she goes, There she goes again
Chasing down my lane
And I just can’t contain
This feeling that remains

There she goes (again) x 3

Chords

(D) G D Cadd9 D

Am G Cadd9 D

Middle 8 – Em C Em C – D G D Cadd9 D G D Cadd9 D – Am Em C D

This really is the perfect indie pop song. It’s not even really got a chorus (The same as how “Losing My Religion” by REM doesn’t have a chorus but is still a brilliant pop song). It’s quite an easy song to play even for a beginner on guitar if you play just the chords as there’s not much finger movement throughout. Which is a very similar style to how Noel Gallagher from Oasis writes songs too.
