Bluetones Support

If you wondered who The Bluetones support  was at Lichfield Guildhall on Saturday 16th September 2023 then you’ve come to the right place. Britpop Reunion frontman Andy Starkey was support for The Bluetones at Guildhall Lichfield. Andy performed a set of Britop and 90’s tracks and chatted to the 180 guests audience about the 90’s and Britpop. He was on stage from 7:45pm and had everyone singing along with him to his 90’s covers. This was just before Mark Morriss and Adam Devlin performed as an acoustic duo version of The Bluetones. The 90’s Britpop band performed songs from their many albums including Expecting to Fly, Return to the Last Chance Saloon and more as well as telling stories about the ups and downs of being in a Britpop band in the 1990’s. It was an absolutely superb night with The Bluetones being on fine form talking about their history and things that have happened recently too. The Bluetones lead singer Mark  Morriss went to get his hair cut in Lichfield just before the gig at Joells Hair Care which is the oldest hairdressers in the city (and boy are there a lot of hairdressers to choose from in Lichfield). He gave owner Dave complimentary tickets for this event and chatted to him while on stage. Bluetones Guitarist Mark Devlin had dropped his guitar and gear off earlier in the day and went for a walk around the beautiful Staffordshire city. But upon returning the whole of Guildhall was locked up so he couldn’t gain entry. He banged on the doors hoping someone would hear him but the Police showed up as they thought he was trying to break in.

Andy Starkey finally managed to get his treasured 1995 poster signed by the band as well as a selfie and shots with the band and his partner and his partners sister. They all chatted backstage about “The good old days” before and after they all performed.

The gig was organised by Lichfield Arts and tickets were through Ticket Source. Adults tickets were £20, Lichfield Arts members tickets were £18 and under 18’s tickets were £10 (all plus booking fee).
