The Britpop single was released in September 1996 and it reached number 3 in the UK charts. It is only the bass that makes it sound like there are 3 chords which makes it sound like it goes to a G chord on the 4th bar, but it doesn’t, the guitar stays the same on Fadd9…which contains a G note in it…..Clever eh 🙂

Friday Im In Love by The Cure cover

The song “Friday I’m In Love” was released in 1992 by The Cure and was taken from their ninth studio album ‘Wish’. It reached number 6 in the UK charts and number 18 in the USA Billboard Hot 100.  As well as The Forest, Boys Don’t Cry and Love Cats this is one of The Cure’s most easily recognisable songs. . The Cure are often categorised as a ‘Goth Band’ due to the way lead singer Robert Smith dresses. Also due to the sadness of lyrics and minor chords in the songs. But this tune for once is definitely on the poppier side of their singles and songs.

“Friday I’m In Love” is one of those songs that goes through each day of the week. “I don’t care if Monday’s blue, Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too. Thursday I don’t care about you its Friday I’m in love…… Saturday wait, Sunday always comes to late. But Friday never hesitates. “
